Bow Tie Tuesday is something I started while interning at Campfire. I have a slight addiction to bow ties so I thought I would change things up weekly with some class. I have gotten repeated stares on the subway, but I figure they’re just jealous (that’s what my mom taught me). Half way through the semester, I added suspenders and I’m thinking the next will be a vest or monocle, who knows.
Check out Bow Tie Tuesday on Twitter.

I have an addiction to keeping up with viral stuff on the internet. So when BuzzFeed posted the picture of a squirrel crashing a couple’s moment in Banff National Park, I couldn’t resist to take it further. I decided to put my own spin that ended up getting a lot of attention. Buzzfeed then kept track of the history of how the squirrel fever spread (citing me at #2) as the first person to start this viral craze. The Crasher Squirrel then became a national phenomenon popping up in photos everywhere, eventually earning a report on CNN. I didn’t get much attention in the whole process, but it was a cool thing to see grow from a simple idea I had, to what it has become.

In May I was asked by Brett McKenzie, Chief Writer at IHAVEANIDEA, to write an agency profile on the Chicago based agency, GERTRUDE Inc.. I visited the agency representing IHAVEANIDEA and interviewed Otis D. Gibson, Founder of GERTRUDE, and his staff. Below is a link to my article, although you have to sign up to read it.

After deciding to enter my McDonald’s ad and attend the Third Annual Wrath of Cannes, I ended up winning 2nd Runner-up in the competition. Unfortunately for me, the judging for the finalists was done by crowd noise. Since I forgot to invite my posse and brought my roommate instead, my cheering section was a little quiet. But excuses aside it was a great accomplishment and interesting experience to say the least.
